To the Senior Advisor of Traci Park,
I am writing to express my concern about the heavy influence that large corporate donors have over your campaign and policy goals. The Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United v. Federal Elections Commission opened the floodgates for corporate money to influence politics and has allowed the American Government to become a pay-to-play scheme where politicians can be bought and sold to the highest bidders. It is my belief that you are helping perpetuate this assault on American Democracy.
The office that you are working for has accepted large campaign contributions from corporations that stand in opposition to the interests of many of your constituents. You have accepted campaign contributions from fossil fuel companies such as Chevron. You have accepted donations from tech companies such as Airbnb. You have accepted contributions from some of the largest landlords in the city including Douglas Emmet, Kilroy Realty, and Hudson Pacific, as well as contributions from landlord lobbying PACs such as California Apartments Association and California Real Estate Pac.
I ask you and the office you work for to stop participating in this subversion of American democracy.
